Our vendors’ mill was one of the first mills in the southern United States to install a system to produce turned posts rather than peeled posts. A turned post is a straighter, cleaner post with less bark and unsightly blemishes. They assure that the posts are treated properly because they start by drying the posts correctly. Unlike their competitors who put their posts in a round bundle, they package the posts in square packs with wood spacers between every row. This allows every post in the bundle to dry much more evenly. Most of us around here know that wood posts not lasting has been an issue in this part of the country. They then treat the posts to the American Wood Preservers Association Standards, with your choice of preservatives, including CCA, ACQ or Creosote.
